Holt Winter Jam Volunteer Effort and Job Descriptions
Volunteers will engage face-to-face with concertgoers to raise awareness about Holt’s cause, inform them about Holt’s child sponsorship and adoption programs, and most importantly, invite and sign them up to sponsor a child.
Signing up child sponsors is the primary goal of all volunteers. By growing our pool of sponsors, you will help to increase Holt’s support, resources and ability to continue serving children who need these critical services.
It is our hope that each volunteer will strive to sign up two or more new sponsors per event!
Working with Holt Volunteer Staff: Volunteers will work together with Holt’s volunteer coordinator, volunteer assistant and onsite tour representatives and assistants as they volunteer at the concert and in the time leading up to the event. You will work with Alycia and Candice from registration through the day of the show. On concert day, you may contact Dan or Caleb as needed. Here are the Holt staff members you will work with from the time you register, through the day of the concert!
Alycia Fahr-Zarlons | Volunteer Coordinator
Candice Coffee | Sponsorship Assistant
Dan Lindsay | Onsite Tour Representative
Caleb Heidegger | Tour Assistant
The number of people attending the Winter Jam concerts averages from 10,000-20,000 per venue (other tours vary). From past experience, we know we need more volunteers to increase the number of children sponsored. Each venue will be different, but we aim to have hundreds of volunteers at each concert!
We have only 15 minutes during intermission to actively sign up sponsors!
We regret that Holt is not able to provide vouchers for volunteer parking at the events. We encourage you to please visit the links below for your concert venue's directions and parking information. There are a few venues where parking fees may apply, so it will be important to check this ahead of your event.

Please note that Holt requires that all participating volunteers be age 16 or older. However, we do make a special exception for Holt adoptive parent volunteers who wish to bring up to two of their own children (younger than 16) to accompany them for free. For other volunteers who would like to bring minors, we offer the option of requesting approval to allow someone to enter through the volunteer entrance with you by paying the $10 fee in cash on arrival.
Volunteers under 18. If you are age 16 or 17 and registering to volunteer with Holt, please let one or both of your parents know that you plan to volunteer at Winter Jam. We strongly suggest that you give your parents the URL of the volunteering project so they can read through the materials themselves, particularly the Volunteer Work Agreement, and invite them to subscribe to our lists as well. We also suggest you copy one or both of your parents on your correspondence with Holt and we will be happy to do the same, per your request. Your parents are invited to call or email Holt’s volunteer coordinator or volunteer assistant with any questions or comments about our program.
Adoptive parent volunteers with children under 16: We are seeking additional support from adoptive families to work tables at the events this year! Holt allows each registered adoptive parent volunteer to bring up to two of their own minor children as guests to accompany them at no cost. When completing the online registration form, under comments, please identify your children as “minor child of adoptive parent” and include your child’s name and age. Children under 16 will not be permitted to manage the payment information on our sign-up forms so we ask for your help with this compliance.
Registered volunteers/group leaders requesting venue access for a member of your party who will NOT be volunteering or who is younger than 16: Contact the volunteer coordinator for approval. You may be permitted to have this person enter through the volunteer entry, but pay the $10 fee in cash at the door to the on-site tour rep.
Winter Jam concerts are family friendly events and suitable for all ages to attend. If you are not eligible or interested in volunteering but want to simply attend the concert, you may either wait in line and pay $10 per person at the time of entering the venue, or visit this website to pre-purchase tickets through a JamNation membership here.
All participating volunteers must be 16 or older. Please engage guest volunteers whom you know you can depend on. We rely on you as the leader to make sure your guest volunteers receive all the information and training that we provide to you. Before adding your members, we suggest that you talk with them about our sponsorship program and our effort to sign up new sponsors. Use Holt’s website or videos to help them understand how their work and actions will directly impact the children we serve. Then, create and maintain a current list of names, email addresses and cell numbers for all of your guests. We realize that your guest list may change. We plan to check in with you the week before the event to ensure we have a current list. Please feel free to contact the volunteer coordinator with any questions you may have about eligibility, training or preparation. Our goal is for your group to have a wonderful experience serving children and giving back in a collaborative way, and we need your help to make sure everyone is on board ahead of your arrival at the concert. We look forward to seeing your photos and hearing back from you about the experience!
